Delivering safe, modern and accessible public transport infrastructure across NSW

The Transport Access Program (TAP) is a NSW Government initiative delivering safe, modern and accessible public transport infrastructure across the state, improving access to public transport for people with disability or limited mobility, and parents and carers with prams.

Laing O’Rourke worked on this program since 2014 when we won the Easy Access Station Upgrade followed by the Redfern Station Upgrade through Novo Rail.

In early 2021, Laing O’Rourke was initially awarded five stations as part of TAP3 - Pymble, Erskineville, Normanhurst, Thornleigh and St Peters, providing better and more accessible transport interchanges. Building on this success, in September 2021, the team was awarded an additional station – Doonside, bringing Laing O'Rourke's TAP3 scope to over $100million.

Laing O'Rourke has installed new lifts, stairs, concourses, and upgraded the footpaths providing stations that are more accessible, safer and convenient. Further improvements at some stations include new kiss and ride and accessible parking spaces, upgraded bus stops, new bicycle hoops, improved lighting, CCTV, wayfinding signage and road upgrades including new raised pedestrian crossings.

Laing O'Rourke continues to experience growth in our scope as our teams deliver certainty for our client and stakeholders.
