We are applying our pioneering industrialised construction methods to reduce manual strain so that our people constructing these new facilities do not become patients in them. Our application of new technology is allowing us to co-design these spaces with the clinicians and staff who will work in them. This allows us to optimise the functionality and comfort of these healthcare facilities, which in turn ensures they can deliver the best care possible for patients.

About the healthcare sector

We design and deliver world class healthcare facilities by engaging early with our clients, clinical staff and patient groups.

During the last 25 years we have delivered more than 1.5 million m2 of new and refurbished hospital space globally, across more than 75 healthcare projects.

Our integrated capability combines healthcare planning, digital engineering and modern methods of construction through self-delivery of in-house offsite manufactured solutions for building substructures, structures and MEP services. This approach combined with the use of digital tools and approaches helps improve engagement, shorten programmes, assure quality and maintain safe, uninterrupted hospital operations. Our teams work directly with clinicians and estates teams to plan spaces, meet healthcare technical standards, enable commissioning and provide soft landings to support safe operational commencement.

We deploy offsite manufacturing at scale to improve safety, reduce person hours on site and compress programmes. We have delivered subsequent record-breaking fastest hospital builds in the UK, as well as major new build hospitals with zero defects.

Our place on the New Hospital Programme’s Hospital 2.0 Alliance Framework puts us at the centre of future major hospital delivery in the UK. We will continue to champion standardisation and the modern methods of construction that we have advocated, developed and delivered over the last two decades. We also have a 15 year history as a Principal Supply Chain Partner (PSCP) on iterations of NHS England’s ProCure framework, delivering more than 25 projects to date.

In November 2020 we handed over The Grange University Hospital in Wales to the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board four months early and with zero defects. This was made possible through the power of our experience in modern methods of construction.

Keir’s experience spans both public and private sectors, from health promotion in the NHS, working directly with public health leadership and reporting to NHS England, through to business development for an international law firm, securing positions on FTSE 100 legal panels and developing bespoke product offerings. Over more than a decade in Clients & Markets at Laing O’Rourke, he led major bids and opportunity proposals, helping to secure some our largest projects across all sectors and frameworks. As part of that work and in his current role he invests time to understand our clients and build enduring, two-way relationships with peers.
