1 Wood Crescent Tops Out

27.05.22

A major construction milestone was celebrated yesterday with the topping out of 1 Wood Crescent, a nine-storey office development on plot D of Television Centre in White City, London.

Forming part of the ongoing redevelopment of Television Centre, Laing O’Rourke is delivering 1 Wood Crescent for Stanhope on behalf of investors Mitsui Fudosan and Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) and some of their clients.

The topping out ceremony took place at the highest point of the new building and invited guests marked the milestone with a ceremonial bolt tightening followed by speeches from Seamus French, Laing O’Rourke’s Managing Director, Europe and CEO-designate, Laing O’Rourke and Stanhope’s respective project leaders as well as Councillor Ben Coleman, deputy leader of Hammersmith & Fulham Council.

Situated within a constrained London site Laing O’Rourke’s offsite approach has allowed 1 Wood Crescent to reach this stage faster, more safely and more efficiently with minimum disruption to the surrounding area. Design standardisation has also helped the clients achieve their BREEAM Excellent target largely due to the environmental benefits inherent to offsite manufacturing.

Following the start of construction in March 2021, the structural construction works to 1 Wood Crescent at Television Centre are now complete, with remaining activities underway in readiness for a scheduled final completion in early 2023.

1 Wood Crescent is made up of 112,247 sq ft of prime office space located on the west side of the Television Centre campus which will include multiple terraces and a café, all with views over Hammersmith Park and the surrounding White City area and beyond.
