Rolling up our sleeves for Sydney

Laing O’Rourke Australia is calling on all construction workers, delivery partners and suppliers to again take to the frontline against COVID-19 and get vaccinated as part of a special NSW construction campaign.

When COVID-19 reached Australia last year, tens of thousands of construction workers changed every aspect of how they work, to continue delivering safely. The industry sustained thousands of jobs and kept local economies strong.

Managing Director Cathal O’Rourke said the industry found a way to keep our people safe and frontline projects moving to progress the state’s essential infrastructure throughout the pandemic.

“However, with the increase in COVID cases and the nature of the delta strain, this hard-won progress and our state’s capacity to recover from the pandemic is at risk,” Mr O’Rourke said.

“That’s why we are calling on our people across NSW to get vaccinated and for those living in the impacted local government areas to take advantage of the construction Super Sunday vaccinations at Sydney Olympic Park.

“We need to act now to help NSW meet the target of six million vaccinations – and in doing so protect ourselves, our families, our co-workers and all the regions now impacted by the outbreak.

“It’s time to roll up our sleeves, to get Sydney moving and ensure a bright post-COVID future.”
