Delivering with purpose
16.04.26Laing O’Rourke begins the main construction to provide residents of Sussex and NHS staff with a modern facility to improve cancer care in the area.
The new centre has been designed in partnership with University Hospitals Sussex NHS Trust employees, to ensure the design and layout is fit for purpose.
By utilising its integrated supply chain and offsite manufacturing, Laing O’Rourke is providing the Trust with greater certainty over quality, programme, and safety.
Today the project team, members of the NHS staff and patients of the current cancer centre celebrated the breaking ground on the new site, adjacent to the Louisa Martindale Building at Sussex Hospital, which Laing O’Rourke completed in 2013.
Laing O’Rourke’s Managing Director, Peter Lyons, said: “We’re proud to deliver a project that will have a lasting impact on the lives of the people of Sussex. We’ve designed the new cancer centre through close collaboration with NHS staff and patients, ensuring every aspect of the building improves their experience.”
Once complete, the facility will provide modern cancer treatments, advanced technology, and contemporary clinical practice in a single, dedicated centre.
