In a virtual ceremony held yesterday (5 Nov), our Manchester Metrolink team secured three British Construction Industry Awards (BCIAs) for their work on Trafford Park line including the coveted ‘overall project of the year’.

The top accolade recognises the winning project from all combined categories, marking out Manchester Metrolink as one of the country's most significant projects.

The team also bring home the Transport Project of the Year, and Health, Safety and Wellbeing Initiative of the Year awards.

The Transport Project of the Year award showcases transport projects that are enhancing capacity, providing better connectivity or helping to improve the reliability of local, regional or national transport services. The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Initiative of the Year recognises initiatives that tackle mental health and promote a safe and healthy working environment.

Recently Metrolink handed over the Park and Ride facility at Parkway, completing The Trafford Park line, and marking 12 years of continuous delivery for Transport for Greater Manchester.

The project, one of the most integral infrastructure projects in the North of England, has been delivered by TfGM’s design and construction partner MPT – a consortium of Laing O’Rourke, VolkerRail and Thales – with WSP as TfGM’s delivery partner.

Andrew Pritchard, Project Leader at MPT, said: “We are honoured to be recognised at this year’s British Construction Industry Awards and is the perfect end the phase three programme of works with Transport for Greater Manchester and KAM.

“These awards reflect the teams continuous hard work and dedication over the last 12-years.”
