Supply Chain Sustainability School Net Zero Summit

At Laing O’Rourke, we are transforming the way buildings and infrastructure are engineered and built.

By 2030 all our sites and facilities will be net zero emissions.

By 2050 we will be a net zero company delivering nature positive solutions with teams that represent our diverse society.

We are shaping a lasting legacy for our clients, our environment, our people and society.

Working together towards a more sustainable future

The construction sector has a significant role to play in reducing global emissions on the journey to net zero. With so many parties involved across the value chain, effective collaboration is central to our progress as an industry.

While emissions reduction is a core focus, sustainability encompasses so much more than carbon. We have a unique chance to provide opportunities for communities, investing in local businesses and providing local employment through social value programmes. We have a responsibility to eradicate modern slavery within our industry. And we can be part of the movement to bring greater diversity to our sector.

Our sustainability commitment

At Laing O’Rourke, we are transforming the way buildings and infrastructure are engineered and built.
By 2030 all our sites and facilities will be net zero emissions.

By 2050 we will be a net zero company delivering nature positive solutions with teams that represent our diverse society.

We are shaping a lasting legacy for our clients, our environment, our people and society.

Here are some of the ways we’re working to make our commitment a reality:

We recognise that it is only by working closely with our supply chain partners that we will succeed in achieving our goals.

Be part of our story

We’re working with peers to try and reduce the administrative burden for suppliers, while making progress on sustainability. In standardising our requirements, we hope to make things more straightforward for everyone.
Some of the ways we’re doing this are:

  • Making Constructionline Gold membership our standard. Constructionline automatically verifies your policies and certifications annually, ensuring you remain compliant and our relationship can continue unhindered.
  • We are partner members of the Supply Chain Sustainability School (SCSS) which is free to access learning resources, carbon calculation tools and events to accelerate your own sustainability journey. We ask that our supply chain partners achieve Bronze membership, demonstrating continued focus on sustainable practices.
  • High quality data from our suppliers is paramount to calculating our own carbon footprint and social impact. We take Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) where they are available, and direct data submissions where they aren’t.

When it comes to innovation, many heads are better than one. We welcome new ideas to reduce our environmental impact, for instance through product innovation or waste reduction.
