Laing O'Rourke wins gold at Mind awards


Laing O’Rourke has been awarded gold in the Mind Workplace Wellbeing Index 2018/19.

As one of the 106 organisations taking part this year, being recognised with a gold award means achieving excellence within the workplace. The award is made of the combined results from an employer assessment by Mind and an employee survey.

Laing O’Rourke has taken part in the in the Mind Workplace Place Wellbeing Index since it began in 2016/17. In that time, we’ve been awarded bronze, silver and now gold in consecutive years, demonstrating our commitment and development supporting our employees with their mental wellbeing.

“We are delighted to have been awarded gold this year, on our third time taking part in the wellbeing index. Seeing us progress from a bronze award in the first index to gold today, is a real testament to the policies we’ve put in place to support your mental wellbeing. Along with our 157 mental health champions and 76 mental health first aiders we’ve trained, we regularly support campaigns such as Time to Talk Day in February, Mental Health Awareness Week in May and World Mental Health Day in October.”

Mind’s Workplace Wellbeing Index is a benchmark of best policy and practice, celebrating the good work employers are doing to promote and support positive mental health, and providing key recommendations on the specific areas where there is room to improve.

Mind surveyed 44,000 employees across the 106 employers participating in the awards, and found that seven in ten had experienced a mental health problem in their lives, with over one in two (53 per cent) affected by poor mental in their current workplace.

Gold – achieving excellence: organisation has successfully embedded mental health into its policies and practices, and demonstrated a long-term, in-depth commitment to employee mental health.
