Meet the people who helped Australia recover from the Black Summer

In 2020, Laing O’Rourke was selected to partner with the NSW Government to deliver the largest and most complex disaster recovery project ever undertaken in Australia.

In less than 200 days and in the shadow of a global pandemic, our team oversaw direct engagement with more than 6,000 Australians to help them clean-up and prepare their properties for the rebuild while supporting more than 90 local and regional small and medium-sized businesses. 

Over the course of the project deep relationships were built, families reunited with priceless possessions and more than 1,000 local jobs were supported at a time of economic uncertainty. The Bushfire Clean-up put people at the heart of our thinking and demonstrates the power of our experience and our passion for the communities in which we work.
