Laing O’Rourke demonstrates its unique modular construction capability on Blacktown Hospital’s new Clinical Services Building.

LAING O’ROURKE DEMONSTRATED ITS UNIQUE DESIGN FOR MANUFACTURE AND ASSEMBLY (DFMA) CAPABILITY IN THE DELIVERY OF THIS PROJECT

The team is working through the commissioning phase of the project, and has successfully handed over a number of critical areas of the facility, including:

• The Cancer Bunkers to Varian Medical Systems who will install the linear accelerators & other associated equipment; and
• 
  The Computed Tomography (CT) room to Siemens who will install the CT scanner and other associated equipment.

Laing O’Rourke demonstrated its unique Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) capability in the delivery of this project, installing 166 modular bathroom pods.
DfMA ensures consistency in delivery and quality and reduces risk on site.

Laing O'Rourke Region Director Mark Dimmock said the upgrade was a vital project for Western Sydney.

“We are finalising fit-out works which connect the new building seamlessly into the existing hospital via a light-filled internal ‘street’, complete with new retail and dining areas,” Mr Dimmock said.

“I am also very proud to report that we have established ourselves as a part of the hospital community and with the wider stakeholders of the Blacktown region.

“Our people have volunteered their time, hard work and money to help ensure staff, patients and their families have the support and comfort they need – as well as a modern, expanded health facility.”

The new hospital building is due to open early next year.
