The contract involves building the Stadium Station, as well as significant rail works, including infrastructure that will enable Transperth to store up to 117 railcars at Burswood.

The transport infrastructure project also includes a pedestrian footbridge linking the stadium site to East Perth and a dedicated bus facility to load up to 20 buses at a time.

“The station is a vital part of the new Perth Stadium project and will enable up to 28,000 passengers to depart the new stadium within an hour of an event,” Minister Nalder said.

Laing O’Rourke Western Region Director Liam Cummins welcomed the Government’s announcement, and said Laing O’Rourke looks forward to bringing its transport infrastructure expertise and capabilities to the project.

“Laing O’Rourke has decades of experience in engineering and constructing some of Australia’s most important urban rail infrastructure projects, and we’re focused on both the technical delivery and the customer engagement that will make Stadium Rail a success.

“Our team highlighted the innovative methods Laing O’Rourke is known for in Australia and around the world. We’ll be bringing those to bear to deliver the safest, smartest construction and commissioning of Perth’s newest public transport facility.”
