In another mobile innovation, another Laing O’Rourke’s app called 'Our People', won a prestigious prize at the 2015 Queensland iAwards - taking out the Industrial and Resources category. The iAwards honour companies at the cutting edge of technology and recognise the achievements of Australian innovators.

Laing O’Rourke partnered with software developers Readify to build a mobile application to further improve communication throughout the company, and in particular to help communicate with the large number of employees working in remote locations or on fly-in, fly-out deployments.

Application Development Manager Robert Phillips, who accepted the award on behalf of Laing O’Rourke, said the Our People app allows Laing O’Rourke to ensure its people get news, photos, alerts or other important messages – direct to their smartphone - whether they are working in capital cities, the Pilbara, the UK, Canada or the Middle East, or travelling elsewhere in the world.

The app works across iOS, Android and Windows devices. Content is targeted to different teams and the app even provides publicly-available materials to interested stakeholders.
