Laing O’Rourke has been a trusted defence infrastructure delivery partner for more than forty years in Australia and the UK. Leveraging the power of our experience, today our people are delivering world-leading solutions to enable our clients to realise their strategic objectives across a range of complex defence projects.

As a managing contractor, Laing O’Rourke delivered the largest single-site Australian defence capital works project since World War 2. The Moorebank Units Relocation Project saw our people successfully relocate an entire defence facility to a new location in suburban Sydney ahead of schedule and under budget in 2015.

Building on this experience, our people are currently delivering more than $1b in complex defence facilities across Queensland, South Australia, and the Northern Territory in partnership with the Australian Defence Force and its allies.

Supporting regional jobs

Our people recognise the importance of these projects in supporting local jobs and employment, particularly in regional and remote locations. Our Australia-Singapore Military Training Initiative Facilities Project being delivered on behalf of the Australian Defence Force and Singapore Armed Forces will be delivered with more than 80 per cent local participation, supporting the local economy in regional Queensland.

Major General Roger Noble AO DSC CSC (Retired) is Laing O’Rourke’s General Manager – Defence in Australia. Holding the Order of Australia, Distinguished Service Cross (Australia) and Conspicuous Service Cross (Australia), twice awarded the US Legion of Merit and bar, Major General Noble entered the Royal Military College as a cadet in 1984 graduating in 1987. He is also a member of the first graduating class of the Australian Defence Force Academy 1986. Roger ensures we continue to align our capacity and capability with the requirements of the Defence sector.
