About the Healthcare sector
Our integrated ‘one team’ offers Trusts in-house expertise from Group companies including CHt, Expanded, Select and Explore; collaboration with end users (clinical staff, FM and patients) during design and testing/commissioning is a key strength.
Laing O’Rourke’s manufacturing and modular solutions are transforming traditional healthcare construction methodologies into a modern process of component-based assembly, whilst ensuring clinical function remains at the core. We call this approach Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) which has been at the forefront of our healthcare construction over the last decade and delivers tangible benefits for the Trusts. For example, using DfMA solutions at our Grange University Hospital, Clatterbridge Cancer Care, Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Brighton 3Ts and Guy’s & St Thomas Cancer Centre healthcare projects has significantly enhanced safety standards on site, produced factory grade quality & precision which engineers out legacy, improved speed of delivery, cutting carbon emissions, enhanced flexibility and a reduction in hospital acquired infection rates.
We work closely with all stakeholders and NHS Trusts, to ensure that we are responsive to their needs and requirements. For instance and in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, at the Grange University Hospital in Wales, we delivered part of the hospital almost a year ahead of schedule.
