Laing O’Rourke, along with its consortium partners Symal, WSP and Arcadis, are excited to have been selected as the preferred proponent for North East Link’s South Package in Victoria, Australia.

Over the next six months, the team will be working collaboratively with the client on the RFP-F Phase, which involves finalising and documenting a project solution and preparing a value for money Target Outturn Cost for the State.

Funded by Victorian and Australian Governments, the North East Link Project is the biggest ever investment in Melbourne’s north-east, changing the way people move around Melbourne.

Laing O'Rourke's Managing Director, Rebecca Hanley said, “This is incredibly exciting news for both Laing O’Rourke and our consortium partners. We’re proud to have been appointed to such a significant project for the State and look forward to working collaboratively with the Victorian Government and the North East Link Project to deliver a compelling, value for money solution for the people of Victoria."

The NELP South Package involves a 6.6km widening and major upgrade of the Eastern Freeway, between Burke Road and Tram Road, in Melbourne’s north-east.

It includes construction of a new interchange at Bulleen Road that will connect the Eastern Freeway to the new North East Link tunnels, as well as construction of a new dedicated Doncaster busway, reconfiguration of the Doncaster Road interchange and construction of new pedestrian bridges, underpasses, shared use paths and noise walls.

The project also includes Intelligent Transport System (ITS) works, an upgrade to park and ride facilities, a redevelopment of the Bulleen Sporting Precinct, and landscaping and urban design elements.
