Building It Twice, Once Virtually

Laing O’Rourke’s Digital Engineering Leader in the Australian business has been named on an elite list of internationally accredited Digital Engineering experts.

Ian Hardcastle has been awarded Certified BIM Manager status from the RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors).

The RICS is the world's leading professional body for qualifications and standards in land, property and construction and the BIM Manager Certification sets the standard that demonstrates the skills and competence of construction professionals in using Building Information Modelling.

Engineering and Design Leader Alan Ainsworth welcomed Mr Hardcastle’s recognition.

All applicants for the RICS BIM Manager Certification must have five years of experience in a relevant sector, a recognised professional qualification and at least 12 months of practical BIM experience. Applicants are also required to undergo a rigorous application and assessment process.

Laing O’Rourke’s pioneering use of Digital Engineering has been instrumental in the successful delivery of a number of major projects across Australia in recent years including the Moorebank Units Relocation Project in Sydney’s southwest, the NGRS Train Maintenance Facility near Ipswich in Queensland and the Stadium Station rail project in Burswood, Perth.
