Apprenticeship Plus

Launched during the 2009 UK National Apprenticeship Week, ‘Apprenticeship Plus’ is a forward-thinking initiative to address the shortfall of skilled tradespeople and create hundreds of new jobs for trainees.

In partnership with ConstructionSkills, Laing O’Rourke aims to take on additional apprentices as we secure new projects, with more to follow through engagement with the supply chain and ongoing expansion of the Group.

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, and the Chief Executive of ConstructionSkills, Mark Farrar, have commended Laing O’Rourke’s commitment to the future of apprentices and our overall sector-leading approach.

Manchester Internships

Laing O’Rourke has developed a strong partnership with Manchester City Council to raise education standards in the city. We welcome young people on the Manchester Internships initiative into the business, giving them experience of real projects and increasing their employability at the end of their studies.

The initiative is currently in its second year and has been praised by the government’s department for children, schools and families for helping to modernise careers education for young people.
