In the Middle East Laing O’Rourke has established an excellent reputation as an employer. We operate a progressive community programme that supports our diverse workforce, many of whom are working far from home and family.
We have created two workforce communities (Yas Island and Mussafah) which are transforming the living conditions for our operatives. Here we offer state-of-the-art accommodation, recreation facilities and catering, designed to meet the diverse cultural needs of people from many different backgrounds. This ensures an inviting, nourishing and healthy environment - in short, a safe and clean ‘home away from home’.
Strategic Indigenous Housing & Infrastructure Programme
Indigenous people make up almost 30% of the Northern Territory’s population and housing is central to the national agenda for closing the gap between indigenous and non-indigenous Australians.
Laing O’Rourke has been selected for a major government initiative to deliver improved, affordable housing for people living in the most remote areas.
Scheduled for completion in 2013, the project will provide employment and training for local communities. During construction we will actively engage these stakeholders, whose consultation and participation will be fundamental to the project’s success.
