Senior Appointment – Gary Wells joins Europe Hub as UK Infrastructure Managing Director

Laing O’Rourke has appointed Gary Wells as its new UK Infrastructure Managing Director. In his role Gary will work with an established UK Infrastructure team in the ongoing development and leadership of the company’s delivery in the Infrastructure sectors.

He has a comprehensive understanding of the commercial drivers of the infrastructure services industry having performed a broad spectrum of roles spanning both UK domestic and international markets.

Chief Executive, Anna Stewart said; “Gary is a dynamic, internationally-focussed infrastructure specialist with an extensive professional network developed within the industry. He is an outstanding addition to the Europe Hub senior team, and I know his contributions will accelerate our strategic ambitions to develop our unique business offering through excellence in delivery, reinforcing our brand as a tier one provider in the UK.”

Gary joins Laing O’Rourke from Al Naboodah Construction Group, where he was Chief Executive Officer responsible for the largest privately owned UAE-based construction group boasting a turnover of circa US$800m.  Specialising in the delivery of major infrastructure projects, it self-performs much of its work through an in-house skilled workforce.

Earlier in his career he spent 15 years with the Costain Group in a variety of strategic, operations and project delivery roles, having joined directly following graduation from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh with a BEng in civil engineering.  He is a corporate member of the Institution of Civil Engineers.

Gary takes up his post on 4th November and will report to Europe Hub CEO, Roger Robinson
