Boilermakers and tank welders needed in the Top End

To apply email

Laing O’Rourke is currently delivering the onshore LNG facilities accommodation village and a network of four massive cryogenic tanks for the $34 billion Ichthys LNG Project in Australia’s Northern Territory.

The Ichthys LNG Project is a joint venture between INPEX (76%, the operator) and TOTAL (24%). Gas from the Ichthys Field, in the Browse Basin approximately 200 kilometres offshore to the northwest of Australia, will undergo preliminary processing offshore to remove water and extract condensate. The gas will then be exported to onshore processing facilities in Darwin via an 889 kilometre subsea pipeline.

In partnership with global LNG tank specialist Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Laing O’Rourke will engineer, procure and construct the complex cryogenic tanks. The contract is one of the largest and most critical packages within the Ichthys programme and the cryogenic tanks package consists of two 165,000m3 LNG tanks, one 85,000m3 propane tank and one 60,000m3 butane tank.

The Ichthys onshore project is the only major LNG project being delivered in close proximity to an Australian capital city
