New home for Laing O'Rourke in Brisbane

Laing O'Rourke has moved into the M&A commercial tower in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley, after successfully completing construction and fitout of phase one of the exciting precinct.

Laing O’Rourke has delivered the first component of McLachlan & Ann (M&A), the contemporary new residential, commercial and retail concept set in the heart of Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. The building becomes the new Queensland headquarters for Laing O'Rourke, Australia's largest privately-owned engineering and construction company.

The M&A project achieved practical completion of the commercial tower on Friday 22 March, allowing Laing O'Rourke and key tenants Macquarie Bank and Ergon Energy to take up residence.

The commercial tower is an exceptional piece of urban design that comprises:

  • 17, 500m2 of net lettable area,
  • 11 levels of A grade commercial space (Property Council of Australia),
  • 420 car parks,
  • 12,000m3 of concrete; and
  • 1,100 tonnes of reinforced steel.

“With peak crew size of 520 people and 120 separate subcontract and supplier companies engaged across the project, M&A has achieved industry-leading safety statistics within the building industry,” Project Leader Peter Payten said.

Laing O'Rourke will occupy Levels 1-3 of the commercial tower. See our new address card and directions here.

Project Director Paul Barrie said that while there is still a long way to go on the rest of the precinct the effort delivering this first component has been exemplary.

"The residential and mixed-use retail components are continuing and will be completed in the last quarter of this year," Paul said.
