The London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games may still be just over a year away, but CLM (the delivery partner for the London 2012 Olympics) has already struck gold with two major awards in as many weeks.
The Olympic Programme won the Integrated Supply Chain of the Year accolade for the Olympic Delivery Authority at the Building Awards 2011, under a CLM team led by Caroline Blackman and Paul Dickinson. Summarising their winning entry, Building magazine said “The integrated supply chain covers an eye-watering list of separate components from enabling work and logistics through to structures, bridges and highways, parklands and permanent venues. Everyone knows that delivering the scheme on time and on budget is an immense undertaking. The supply chain should be extremely proud to be achieving such a consistently high standard on the Olympic site, and should be aware that their work is inspiring not just the rest of the industry, but the entire nation.”
CLM Logistics and Security, under the leadership of Dave Peacop also picked up a Gold National Site Award at the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) Annual Awards Ceremony for 2011. The national body, which assesses almost every worksite in the country, made their most recent visit during April, and awarded the team 38.5 out of 40 - the highest score awarded on the Olympic Park to date.
Their citation read: “A key objective of the Olympic Delivery Authority is to achieve a respectful environment, both on and around the Olympic Park and this has been reflected by the L&S team’s commitment to the same cause. This was an outstanding effort from a team focused on constant improvement, and a credit to the aims of the scheme. Whether it is through the work carried out on site to keep the park clean and the provision of world class facilities, the money raised through various events for their appointed charity ‘Richard House’, or the numerous community improvement works managed by the team, they have shown that it is possible for a construction site to instil both pride in its workforce and have a positive impact on the local community, if the will and commitment is there.”
The CLM Logistics and Security Team manages the site wide provision of security, road networks, transportation, deliveries, personnel movement, materials and fuel supply, waste management and health care as a central support facility for all the appointed contractors working on the Olympic Park.
