Professional Development
All our people on average spend three days each year ‘off the job’, developing their careers. Additionally, through networking, coaching, mentoring, e-learning and learning on the job, you will be given every opportunity to grow your skills on a daily basis.

Many of our people are also actively pursuing further education, through day release or distance learning, as they progress towards their professional qualifications. Laing O’Rourke supports this development through the payment of college fees and time off for college attendance, study leave and exams.

Typically our staff are progressing towards professional status with institutions such as:

  • Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
  • Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)
  • Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
  • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
  • Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS)

The 'LOR Way' encapsulates the world-class systems and processes used in the winning and delivery of projects. We provide technical training in all our core functions, supporting all employees in the delivery of excellence.

We believe that great managers deliver great results, but great leaders deliver the extraordinary. Our management and leadership development programmes enable our leaders to engage passionately with their people, motivating them to deliver Excellence Plus performance. In support of this we also have a range of management skills workshops linked to our Excellence Plus behavioural framework.
