High Speed Routes to the Top
Laing O’Rourke seeks to attract and develop talented individuals, building their professional capabilities and identifying our future leaders. Over 10% of our professional workforce is actively participating in our programmes at any one time.

The breadth of our business allows us to benefit from those in their later years, who add huge value working with our clients and coaching less experienced employees. At the same time we have lots of opportunities for young people who are up and coming.

We believe ‘if you are good enough you are old enough’. Those on our entry programmes and executive ‘Guns’ programmes will be fast-tracked into project or functional director roles. To achieve this pace of growth you will need to be mobile, talented and incredibly hard working.

Guns Programmes

We have developed a suite of programmes that nurture high-performing employees at all stages of their careers. Collectively these are known as our ‘Guns’ programmes. Many of our senior leaders have benefited directly from being part of these learning experiences and networks.

Young Guns / K2
Our Young Guns programme covers our Europe and Middle East businesses, while K2 is our equivalent programme in Australia. Both are designed to nurture and develop our brightest and best talent.

The programmes challenge participants to think creatively and develop their own leadership styles. Lasting 12-18 months, they build leadership skills, equipping participants to take on senior project roles. We work in partnership with leading academic institutions, including Cambridge University and University College London, to deliver these programmes.

Guns
Our Guns programme was developed in conjunction with Imperial College London. Operating in our Europe and Middle East hubs, Guns takes our very best project and functional leaders and develops them into the complex project, programme and functional directors of the future.

Big Guns
Designed for our most senior programme and business leaders. Big Guns brings together leading minds from industry and academia to challenge our leaders to build broad business skills to deliver complete thinking for the benefit of our clients and our business.
