Graduate Development Programme - Europe

Laing O’Rourke graduates will work through a flexible development programme lasting between two and four years, depending on the speed of your progress. This flexibility ensures we challenge, stretch and support you in becoming qualified to deliver world-class projects.

We have three defined career entry points:

  • Engineering and Design
  • Commercial Services (Estimating, Procurement, Commercial, Cost and Time Management)
  • Construction Management

We do not take graduates outside these disciplines onto our formal programme, although we recruit graduates into junior roles across all of our functions.

Graduates will gain in-depth knowledge of the industry through an engaging series of work placements, complemented by accredited seminar-style workshops. They will be mentored throughout the programme by experienced leaders within the business.

You will enjoy strong support from mentors, buddies, line managers and a large peer group network. Our dedicated professional team will work closely with you to develop clear career goals and identify ways to resolve knowledge and skills gaps.

Graduates must build on their academic qualifications with professionally recognised accreditation.

Our graduate starting salary ranges from £25,000 to £30,000, plus car and benefits package. The range takes account of the different ages and experiences our graduates will have. For exceptionally talented individuals with the ability to fast-track through the programme and achieve chartered status earlier, the higher end of the salary and package range can be achieved.

Our senior leaders regularly engage with our graduates to ensure they are in touch with business strategy and exposed to the most innovative and experienced people in the organisation.

Successful candidates will combine academic achievement with personal drive and a commitment to hard work, an ability to work with others and preparedness to be mobile. To be considered you will require a minimum 2:1 degree.

Graduate positions for the European business will be awarded to those who have completed courses that are accredited by the governing professional body and enable professional membership as rapidly as possible.National Graduate Recruitment Awards
